Wild Days & Camps
Fun and learning in the woods for children
In an age of video games, urbanisation and rising obesity, we bring back the spirit of adventure. We teach children to take risks in a safe environment, taking them out in to the woods to get mucky, to learn and to have lots of fun!
More information about our Wild DaysOur Wild Days generally fall into two categories: 1. Practical activity days (eg. Wild in the Woods, Girls Go Wild, Mini Go Wild, Adventure in the Woods) The focus is to enjoy being in the woods - learning how to make shelters, building a fire and finding out about the animals & plants around us. We encourage personal responsibility and independence, and there is usually time to practice skills, meet new friends, explore our surroundings, sit by the campfire, play exciting games and follow tracks & trails. Activities might include: Fire lighting - Learning which wood is suitable for which purpose (e.g. tinder and kindling), collecting wood, scouting a fire, lighting fire with matches, fire strikers, or flint & steel Depending on the theme of the day and the needs of the group, there may also be the opportunity to: Cook simple bread dough or a stew over the fire 2. Quest / Magical / Theme days (e.g. Quest for the Hallowed Veils, Journey into the Forbidden Forest) These usually include Climbing through a giant spiders web There will usually be activities specific to the theme of the day, e.g. Harry Potter day - wand making, spell casting practice Activities are tailored to suit the group and may change according to weather conditions. There may or may not be a small campfire at lunchtime or as part of the activities, but firelighting is unlikely to feature as a main activity of these days.
