Fun and learning in the woods for children

We run exciting, educational events for children in our beautiful beech woods - for less than the cost of child care!

  • Half day, full day & overnight camps, tailor-made for specific age groups, running all year round
  • Educational & creative activities, such as: survival skills, tree & plant identification, wild crafts, magical quests, fantastic games, exploring nature, watching wildlife, silent stalking, making fire, extraordinary night games, campfire songs and much more...
  • All profits from our Wild Days go towards running New Horizons, our alternative curriculum for disadvantaged teenagers.

3. Send the completed forms with cheque payable to Frontiers, at our address below

Please note: For administrative reasons, we will not send you a booking confirmation. If a booking is cancelled more than 2 working days before an event, you will receive a cash refund. If you cancel within 2 working days of the event, you will receive a credit for a future event instead of a refund.

Summer Survival Special

Collect all your materials in the woods to make a shady den, try your hand at fire making and relax whilst cooking your lunch. Learn to sneak quietly through the woods and make your own camouflage, who knows what animals we might surprise? Throw in a few games and enjoy summer in the woods.

Robin Hood Adventure

Come and join Robin Hood and his merry men for a day of fun and adventure! You can do lots of exciting things like shooting at a target and stealing from the rich - but beware of the Sheriff!

Shadow Forest Quest

Seek the mysteries of nature. Learn about tracking, habitat and evasion, even camouflage! Keep one eye open at all times... who knows what's lurking in the undergrowth?! A day full of games, secrets, wonder and discovery.

Woodland Treasure Trail

Come and find the tiny woodland creatures, which are hidden away - unless you look really hard you won’t see them! Tracking, animal signs and learning to recognise and read the earth under our feet. Great for expert hide and seekers.

Can you create a really snug den in the woods? Light a fire with only flint and steel? Is it possible to feel at home with no TV? Come and explore the world of the woods - there are games to play, creatures to meet and stories to tell.

Family Activity Morning

Age: 0 - 7 plus adult
Cost : £13 (under 4s and adults go free!)

A chance for younger children and their adults to find out why everyone loves coming to Frontiers. You can try out lots of fun games and activities in the woods - and don’t forget to bring a picnic.

Native American Scout
Location: Path Hill Farm

This class will teach you the ancient Apache scout skills of camouflage. The Scouts were the most highly trained warriors whose skills of survival, tracking and awareness, were unmatched. They were masters of invisibility, being the eyes and ears of the tribe. With these skills you too may even be able to touch a deer without it ever knowing...

Legendary Wilderness Crafts

This is a day of making crafts from the materials that we can find in the woods. We will use the bark, leaves, feathers that nature provides for us to create something beautiful and memorable to take home with us.

The Tracking Scout

A fun day spent learning the ancient skills of the scout. Your day will include secret observation camps, silent tracking, camouflage and stalking. With lots of games to play along the way, this will be a truly exciting adventure.

Woodland Apothecary

This is a brand new wild day, which we're all excited about. Come down to our woodland apothecary for the day and be a soap maker's apprentice. You'll have a really fun & creative day, and learn loads while you make your very own soap from all natural ingredients!

The Real Lord of the Rings

Have you ever dreamed of living in a place that was surrounded by magic and mystery? Where elves and dwarfs can be seen in the woods and wild places. Came and learn how to track animals like Aragorn, shoot a bow like Legolas, understand the plants like the hobbits and live happily in the forests as the elves.

Stone Age Survival Skills

Learn the skills of our prehistoric ancestors: how to feel at home in the woods; how to build hunter gatherer shelters, make string, stone tools and lots of other implements that we take for granted

Have you ever wanted to learn how to rub sticks together to make fire? This will be your chance to learn the many ways to make fire by friction, the bow drill, hand drill and bamboo fire saw etc.  A really fun and educational day out.

The Way of the Ninja

The ninjas of Japan were so highly trained they didn’t need to fight - instead they used great skills of escape and evasion. We'll be focusing on the awareness and stalking skills of the ninja - we'll move in the shadow to sneak past those who are looking for us. We can't say much about this wild day as we don't want to break the ninja oath!

Fantastic Furry Tails

Help…Help! The evil dark witch has stolen all the animals' furry tails and we need you to help us find them. We'll search the enchanted forest to find the evil witch and you'll learn all the skills you need to get back the tails! Come dressed and prepared for a magical day. You will be greeted, led and trained by the enchanted mistress of the forest.

This will be a delightful day for all young ladies. Come and join our expert potion maker - have fun and be creative while you make some magical cosmetics, using all natural materials. Discover the mystical properties and uses of some of the things growing around us... make something of your very own to take home and keep. We are excited to be offering this brand new wild day!
