Frontiers Enablement Model

The Frontiers Enablement Model is a complete approach to teaching that develops all aspects of a student's character, rather than just focussing on the academic.

6. Visualisation

visualisationUnless we can imagine ourselves doing, being or feeling differently to the way we do now, we are often unable to access new opportunities. Visualisation is a technique used to paint a vibrant picture of an "alternate universe" so we can emotionally engage with it and move towards it.

We use visualisation as a fundamental strategy to address areas such as barriers to success, inappropriate behaviours and negative experiences. We encourage students to see a range of alternative outcomes, to acknowledge the emotions associated with different possible worlds and to travel along timelines to experience them.

Visualisation is used naturally by children all the time; for example, during role play or when going on imaginary journeys. The idea of future universes, where every possibility is played out, can provide young people with a safe place to explore decision-making, opportunities and consequences. It can also offer up hope when the future would otherwise look bleak.
