Frontiers Enablement Model

The Frontiers Enablement Model is a complete approach to teaching that develops all aspects of a student's character, rather than just focussing on the academic.

7. Esteem

esteemThe Esteem aspect represents opportunities for individuals to feel good about themselves. We believe that prior to the establishment of a strong positive identity, our confidence & self-image hinge on our experiences of feeling good about doing something.

At Frontiers, that something may be a skill such as cooking, gardening or campcraft; it could also be a time a student avoided escalating an incident, cared for someone or accepted a compliment.

The better we become at these things, the better we feel about ourselves. If, however, we only feel good about one or two things, when things go wrong, then these few experiences may not be sufficient to prevent us from falling into a space where we feel bad about ourselves. Put simply, the more we do what we feel good about, the better we feel about ourselves and the more robust we become.

Our goal is for students to have a wide range of skills to feel good about. We take regular opportunities to compliment students on their acheivements and encourage them to try different activities and approaches.
