The Programme

We take a group of students out of the school environment and into our beautiful woods for one day a week to teach skills such as firelighting, shelter building, canoeing and outdoor cooking.

As well as time for reflection, there are opportunities for greater self-awarenessm, empathy and engagement with learning.

Our Approach

We coach students beyond negative behaviour patterns to find more effective alternatives, using positive strategies, which seeks to understand why the young person is behaving in challenging ways, and teaching more appropriate ways to meet their needs.

Using our pioneering Enablement Model, we work on students' social skills, encouraging them to think creatively and to work towards goals with initiative and perseverance.

Working with Schools

We work with schools to build an effective and relevant curriculum, helping them to provide classroom time to, for example, build a portfolio of the work students have done at Frontiers.

In this way, students integrate their outdoor learning into the standard curriculum.

Our activities reflect government guidelines on Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning (SEAL) & the Framework of Personal, Learning and Thinking Skills (PLT).

Our Students

Our programme is suitable for all, but particularly benefits students who are disruptive, disengaged, or struggling with school, and also gifted students who don't engage well with the standard curriculum.

We offer schools and youth organisations an opportunity to invest in young people's future by early intervention to reengage them with learning.

Please get in touch for more information and to set up a programme.
