The History of Frontiers![]() Jon Berry, co-founder of Frontiers, did not get on well at school. Frustrated by the institution and its inability to constructively engage students or work with pupils’ character and passion, Jon found his own ways to express himself. Jon got into trouble for setting up his own business in which, for a small charge, more able pupils helped the less able ones to complete their homework. Jon also set up a tuck-shop in competition with the canteen; in the end he left school with no qualifications. Jon studied and became a teacher, before moving into the corporate sector. Shortly after setting up his first business, Jon met bushcraft teacher David Goodworth, and together, in 2005, they set up Frontiers with the object of making learning real, visceral and more engaging than at school. Frontiers evolved into a charity which helps young people to break through the limiting beliefs given to them because of their circumstances. In contrast to academic or vocational courses, Frontiers offers practical, realistic and meaningful experiential programmes, which encourage “whole person” development. To date, over a thousand young people, have progressed to a positive future through Frontiers - Adventures in Learning. |
